Workshop on
HOX and TALE homeoproteins in Development and Disease

27-30, May 2009, Carmona (Seville), SPAIN

Currently, HOX and TALE proteins occupy central stage in different aspects of biomedical research. Many of the classical questions, like the basis for their functional specificity, are starting to be unveiled. Concurrently, these gene families turned out to provide very useful paradigms for the study of new emergent questions like the impact of epigenetic mechanisms on the control of gene expression, or the balance between cellular proliferation and differentiation, a function that might be in the origin of a variety of tumors associated to HOX and TALE genes. This workshop will allow researchers working on the different aspects of the biology of these genes to come together, share their perspectives and discuss how their advances can be integrated to further our understanding of the role HOX and TALE genes play in normal development and disease. The workshop will take place at Carmona, a wonderful historical village close to Seville.

IMPORTANT NOTE to Participants:

TRANSPORTATION from Sevilla to Carmona

We have scheduled a bus pick-up on Wednesday 27. The bus will depart from Santa Justa train Station at 4:30pm (bus will be parked at the bus parking just opposite the station's main gate), and will make a stop at San Pablo Intl. Airport (you'll find the bus as you exit the arrivals building), on its way to Carmona, leaving at 5:15pm. There will be people from the Casares lab helping you to the bus with a "Hox-TALE" sign. The bus will drop you at the Posada, Hotel or Parador around 6pm, so you'll have time to check-in and leave your bags, before going to the Parador, where the workshop will open at 7pm (the Parador is 10min walk from either posada de San Fernando or Hotel Alcazar de la Reina). There will be also buses departing on Saturday at 4:30 and Sunday at 10:00 am to the Airport and Santa Justa train station.
